65' Star Catamaran Charters

Star Dinner Sunset Sail feature image

Star Dinner Sunset Sail

4-4.5 HoursPM DepartureSunsetSurf & Turf

Adult $245.00 Child $205.00

Afternoon light is amazing on Na Pali. See rich hues of green, red and black as the setting sun highlights the many sharp ridge lines and valleys that make this coastline unique. After heading North up Na Pali we’ll enjoy a relaxing downwind cruise and sunset at sea.

The Na Pali Dinner Sunset Sail is our premier "dinner with a view" experience. Sunsets at sea, viewed from the Star are spectacular. Passengers will enjoy a panoramic view of the entire coastline from Haena to Milolii, with the "forbidden" island of Ni'ihau in the distance. Each day is unique, as the light reacts with clouds and landscapes. Rainbows frequently add color to the distant mountains.

The sail starts with a short briefing and introduction as we depart from Port Allen and head West, then North and upwind on the Na Pali (depending on the conditions).

Meanwhile our team of onboard chefs will get busy preparing the fresh meal. Unlike other charter boats, The Star is equipped with a full galley (kitchen) and bar. This means that the meal can be prepared fresh onboard instead of the standard practice of pre-cooking food.

On most days the Hawaiian tradewinds are blowing from the East, which makes for a perfect downwind sail once we reach our turnaround point. The crew's objective on this sail is to position the boat for a calm, downwind sail during dinner service. Once we reach our turnaround, the crew will power down the boat's twin diesels and hoist the massive mainsail and jib. Now you're set up for some sailing, relaxing and yummy food.

We time the sail to pull in at Port Allen near dusk, our goal is to return you to shore safe, happy and full.

This tour DOES NOT include snorkeling. If you would like to snorkel, check out our Star Na Pali Snorkel BBQ Sail.

Morning light on the Na Pali Coast is full of sunshine and rainbows. Explore the gorgeous coastline and enjoy a relaxing downwind sail before going snorkeling. Keep an eye out for dolphins and other amazing wildlife along the way. A freshly prepared BBQ meal along with beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages round out the tour. More

This Star sailing adventure gets an early departure from Port Allen on the west shore of Kauai. It will start with a short briefing and introduction as you depart from Port Allen. You will first head west and then turn to the north to reach the Na Pali Coast. As you head towards the Na Pali Coast, you will see views of Niihau, Polihale, and the ridges of Kokee. A morning departure generally means you will have calmer sea conditions and lighter winds. It also virtually ensures an encounter with a massive pod of Hawaiian Spinner dolphins that can be found along the Kauai coastline most mornings.

We generally take a nearshore route up the entire Na Pali Coast and then turn to sail downwind a bit offshore so you can enjoy the panoramic views as well. On the Na Pali Coast, you will see spectacular sea cliffs, numerous waterfalls, and several lava tubes. Kauai is the oldest of the main Hawaiian islands, and this spectacular carved coastline is the result of millions of years of exposure to wind, waves, and rainfall. Our crew are extremely knowledgeable about the history and legends of the ancient civilization that once inhabited these verdant valleys, and they are happy to share this knowledge with you!

On most days, our Hawaiian trade winds blow out of the east, which makes for a perfect downwind sail once we have reached our turnaround point on the Na Pali. Once we reach our turnaround point, the crew will power down the boat's twin diesel engines, hoist the mainsail, and unfurl the jib, setting you up to relax and enjoy the beautiful views on your way to one of our favorite remote snorkel spots.

After a relaxing sail, we'll tie up at a mooring at our snorkel spot so that you can get in the water to swim, snorkel, or play. You are also welcome to remain on the boat if you wish to simply relax. The onboard chef will serve a delicious lunch freshly prepared in our galley (kitchen) along with beer and wine. Alcoholic beverages will be available only after you are done with your in-water activities.

After lunch, we head back down the west side of Kauai in the direction of Port Allen. We time our tour to return to Port Allen at 1:30 pm.

Includes: 65 ' Star Yacht, Na Pali, breakfast, BBQ lunch, beverages, snorkeling, sailing, whales (in season).

Warning: Due to the bumpy ride on the rafts, we cannot accommodate pregnant passengers, anyone with a history of back or neck issues, serious medical conditions, or recent surgeries, or children under six years old. This can be a physically demanding ride, and passengers should be in above average physical condition. Elderly or frail passengers should strongly consider our Star Catamarans as a less physically strenuous alternative. The Captain reserves the right to refuse boarding at any time to anyone whose health and safety could be at risk.

Winter Alert: The island of Kauai is known for its rugged beauty and its unique ocean conditions. The same extreme elements that have shaped the landscape sometimes prevent us from comfortably exploring the Na Pali Coast, and in-water activities are always weather and ocean conditions dependent. Your captain will continually monitor the weather and will be receiving reports about local ocean conditions right up to your departure time. We will notify you approximately 90 minutes prior to departure via a text to the number you provided at booking to advise you of any destination changes the weather and/or ocean conditions may make necessary. Wherever we go, it will be a super fun day on the water!

"All the 5 star reviews you see are absolutely true. The highlight of our trip! The views were so gorgeous, the crew was great and we got to see sea turtles while snorkeling and spinner and bottlenose dolphins during the boat ride. A must do if you are going to Kauai!"
