Includes: 65' Star Yacht, breakfast, chef-prepared BBQ lunch, beverages, snorkeling, sailing, whales (in season).

Important: Our custom‑built catamarans are engineered for maximum stability and comfort, delivering one of the smoothest rides in Hawaiʻi. Still, this is the open ocean—conditions can shift, and the ride may be rougher than it appears in photos. You should expect motion and occasional sea spray. Swells are more common in winter and spring, while summer generally brings calmer seas. Before departure, your captain will brief you on the day’s conditions so you know exactly what to expect. If you’re prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking medication before boarding to ensure a comfortable experience.

Itinerary

Morning light on the Na Pali Coast is full of sunshine and rainbows. Explore the gorgeous coastline and enjoy a relaxing downwind sail before going snorkeling. Keep an eye out for dolphins and other amazing wildlife along the way. A freshly prepared BBQ meal, along with beer, seltzer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages round out the tour.

This Star sailing adventure gets an early departure from Port Allen on the west shore of Kauai. It will start with a short briefing and introduction as you depart from Port Allen. You will first head west and then turn to the north to reach the Na Pali Coast. As you head towards the Na Pali Coast, you will see views of Niihau, Polihale, and the ridges of Kokee. A morning departure generally means you will have calmer sea conditions and lighter winds. It also virtually ensures an encounter with a massive pod of Hawaiian Spinner dolphins that can be found along the Kauai coastline most mornings.

Star Class Yacht turing around on Na Pali Coast

We generally take a nearshore route up the entire Na Pali Coast and then turn to sail downwind a bit offshore so you can enjoy the panoramic views as well. On the Na Pali Coast, you will see spectacular sea cliffs, numerous waterfalls, and several lava tubes. Kauai is the oldest of the main Hawaiian islands, and this spectacular carved coastline is the result of millions of years of exposure to wind, waves, and rainfall. Our crew is extremely knowledgeable about the history and legends of the ancient civilization that once inhabited these verdant valleys, and they are happy to share this knowledge with you!

Capt Andy's crew preparing for a downwind sail

On most days, our Hawaiian trade winds blow out of the east, which makes for a perfect downwind sail once we have reached our turnaround point on the Na Pali. Once we reach our turnaround point, the crew will power down the boat's twin diesel engines, hoist the mainsail, and unfurl the jib, setting you up to relax and enjoy the beautiful views on your way to one of our favorite remote snorkel spots.

After a relaxing sail, we'll tie up at a mooring at our snorkel spot so that you can get in the water to swim, snorkel, or play. You are also welcome to remain on the boat if you wish to simply relax. The onboard chef will serve a delicious lunch freshly prepared in our galley (kitchen) along with beer and wine. Alcoholic beverages will be available only after you are done with your in-water activities.

What to Bring

We suggest wearing your swimsuit under your clothes. Bring layers for changing conditions; a light jacket, sweatshirt, or windbreaker all work well. Pack reef-safe sunblock, sunglasses, a towel, and a camera or phone for photos. You won't wear shoes on board, but sandals or easy-to-remove shoes make boarding smoother. There are dry storage areas on the boat, but a small bag helps keep your essentials organized.

If you’re prone to motion sensitivity, take precautions before boarding.

Note: You can always change or add layers once underway.
